On that Borderline

Sheerly you can tell what this post is all about by the title? I just gave you a hint. It has to do with walking on that borderline...seductive versus slutty. Showing a bit of skin without going too far. But how far is too far? That always seems to be the question.

                                                Balenciaga                                                  Haider Ackermann

                                                Akris                                                               Tom Ford

This Spring 2013 is all about that veiled, peekaboo look. Any shape or form. Show off that midriff and be a little daring, just go for it! This sheer goodness has been seen all over the runway, from Balenciaga, Haider Ackermann, Akris, Tom Ford, and many many more. I just HAD to try it out for myself.

Millau silk blouse  TOPSHOP maxi skirt  Nine West ankle booties  Forever 21 envelope clutch

This look is considerably more tame than some of the looks I came across on the runway. Some of those designers really know how to take risks and dive right in. I wanted my look to keep the sheer idea yet still be wearable.

Leopard print is sexy, so these ankle booties were a must wear for this outfit. I have to tell you a secret, this TOPSHOP maxi skirt is actually on crazy sale in store (only $9.99) at Nordstrom. Bargain!! High slit maxis are great for two reasons; they are way easier to walk in and they are stinkin' cute! As for the blouse, I have struggled to figure out how to wear it for about a year, but now that this sheer trend is in...I can rock it like this :P Overall the look has some definite sex appeal, but its not too overt. Mission accomplished.

From the runway to everyday!

ALL I SEE IS B & W!!!

[Shorts & simple tank = Forever 21] [Sandals = Dolce Vita] [Watch = Michael Kors] [Bangles, neckless, bracelet & handbag = Juicy Couture]

Black and whites are one of the season’s top trends for Spring 2013!! They are seen everywhere! From different patterns, graphics and stripes, as well as simple and basic. Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Alice + Olivia, Balenciaga, Celine, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel are some of the many to embrace this trend! Black and whites are classics and very easy to incorporate with any outfit. You can be simple and chic, as seen on the runway for Celine and Balenciaga’s show, by wearing black pants and a white top with black and white accessories. If that's not as exciting for you, you can be playful and bold, much like Marc Jacob’s and Louis Vuitton’s looks by mixing and matching black and white patterns to create a entire head-to- toe look. Either choice, you will be on trend for the spring and absolutely chic!!!

And on the eighth day, god created the printed pant

Printed pants are everywhere this season, spotted on all the runways. From favorites such as Celine, Tory Burch, Isabel Marant, Rachel Zoe, 3.1 Philip Lim, just to name a few. They can be worn many ways and dressed up or down for whatever occasion. They are so fun to pair with little booties (my personal fave), wedges, oxfords, or sandals in the summer....really whatever you want!!

Here I have posted three ways to wear the printed pant...School, weekend, and night out (whether it be ladies night or date night).

NIGHT OUT

Top- Topshop, Pants- Target, Shoes-Anthropologie, Necklace- Topshop, Bag-Rachel by Rachel Roy

For this look I though it would be nice to show off the pants by pairing them with a more simple top and cute wedges. I wanted to keep the jewelry simple as I thought the pants speak for themselves. I will be wearing these pants all through spring and summer!

WEEKEND WEAR

Pants- Seven For All Mankind, Top- Motor City, Shoes- Target, Bag- Neiman Marcus

This is one of my favorites as I get to play with different textures, from the fringed booties to the snakeskin pants to the super shredded tank. This outfit is something I would wear to go shopping, to lunch, or hang out in LA for the day. One of the main things to think about with printed pants is to have fun. Mix prints, textures, colors, just have fun with it.

SCHOOL DAYS HOLLABACK

Pants- H&M, Top- SPlendid, Boots- Sam Edelman "Petty", Backpack- Marc by Marc Jacobs

When you have to be at school early in the morning you want to throw on something thats cute, but comfortable enough to wear in a two hour lecture. For days at school I try to keep it simple with a basic tee, a great denim jacket, and a loose pair of pajama style pants. These are some staples that I wear on a daily basis and will work great through spring and summer.

Polka Dots

Polka dots are continuing to be a major trend for Spring 2013. They are seen in (from top left to bottom right) Haider Ackermann, Christian Siriano, Rachel Zoe, and Jil Sander's Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear lines. Whether big or small, polka dots can be added to complete a look. Dots come in all sizes, colors, and can be found on any piece of merchandise. Tanks, blouses, cropped pants, shorts, skinny jeans, handbags, jewelry...you name it! For all you trendy girls out there, dots have almost become a neutral; you can mix and match it with other prints. For example, pair a fun leopard ankle bootie, polka dot skinny jeans, a simple blouse, and some statement jewelry. Or make the dots the piece de resistance; if you want the polka dots to really stand out, keep everything simple...maybe black even!

I am a big fan of these pretty little things so, I created my own look using these infamous dots. As the weather permitted, I was able to sport some navy blue polka dot shorts and to contrast the mini shorts, I added a cream chunky cable knit sweater. Some strappy sandals broke it up a but and I just had to do some gold jewels! Polka dots really gave this outfit a pop of excitement and kept me on trend for Spring 2013.
